Meet the Workshop Instructors

Mario Robau Jr   Mario Robau Jr.
  Houston, Texas
    West Coast Swing

Mario started dancing at the age of sixteen and is a multiple US OPEN Swing Champion. He is one of the most talented and respected Swing instructors in the country. He has choreographed routines for hundreds of dancers and taught thousands more. His emcee skills are incomparable - as is his dance ability.

For the last eleven years, Mario has traveled at least 40 weekends per year judging, teaching, and emceeing at various dance workshops and conventions throughout the United States and Canada in the swing, country western, and shag dance circuits.

He was admitted into the WSDC Hall of Fame in 2001. From 1995 to the 2005 Mario placed from 9th to 3rd place in the NASDE standings. 2003 and 2004 he placed 3rd.

Mario's Competitive credentials include: 2 time U.S. Open Classic swing dance champion; U.S. Open Team Champion and co-choreographer; 6 time Dallas Dance champion; 5 time Southwest Regional champion; 5 time Texas State champion; 3 time Grand National champion (2 in the Classic Swing Division and 1 in the Strictly Swing Division).

 


Sam and Lisa West   Sam and Lisa West

    Carolina Shag

Sam holds 10 Divisional and 4 Overall National Shag titles with 4 different partners and is a 6-time USA Grand Nationals Carolina Shag Champion.

Lisa has a background in Country and Swing and lists “Butterfly Kisses” and the “Wizard of Oz” as her favorite performances.

 


Mark Traynor   Mark Traynor

    Salsa

Mark Traynor began Floorplay Dance Club in 1995 in Orlando, Florida. They have a nationwide reputation as a very friendly club where everyone simply congregates to have fun, socialize and enjoy dancing. They have grown to six locations, adding Daytona Beach, Tampa, Melbourne, Royal Palm Beach, and Jacksonville. Mark is an accomplished dancer and teacher in all forms dance and has been involved with the Dance Industry in every capacity for over 31 days. He is also the event coordinator for Floorplay Swing Vacation which takes place over New Years Eve at the Rosen Plaza Hotel, in Orlando, Florida.

 


  Bob and Beverly Budzynski

    Hustle

Bob and Beverly have hosted 28 events in their career, including the prestigious “Michigan Dance Classic.”

They are two time recipients of the “Feather Award” for dancing, the equivalent of an “Oscar” for acting. They are past 1st Place winners of the “American Swing Dance Championships” and have placed in the top five of the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships three times. Recently they were winners at the “World Swing, Salsa, and Hustle Championships” winning 1st Place in all three divisions.

Many of you may have seen them on TNN TV doing guest performances on “Club Dance” but if not, they will perform for you on Saturday evening.

They support dancing in many different ways. For example they are sponsors of the “Masters Tour” and provide $300.00 at 12 designated events and $7000.00 split among the top 4 couples in the point standings at the U. S. Open.

They are delighted to be able to teach for “Mid-Ohio Boogie Bash” and they thank the Mid-Ohio Boogie Club for the opportunity to be an important part of our most fun event.

 


don and jennifer ewell   Don and Jennifer Ewell

Don and Jennifer have been members of the dance community for several years. Don’s passion to dance prompted him to learn all that he could as soon as he could.

His passion led to teaching others what he knew. Jennifer joined him after their marriage. They are well known in the Columbus area for their ability to impart their expertise to their students.

 


Ron Clark   Ron Clark

Ron Clark has been teaching for 43 years, 25 of which were at the Dance Plus Studio in Columbus, OH. As a young lad, Ron accompanied a friend who wanted to learn to dance for his wedding. He continued his lessons with an the Arthur Murray dance studio and after two years the studio asked Ron to teach. His gift of gab and his flair for dancing was all that was needed to become a great dancer and talented teacher.

Ron Clark is the General Manager of the Dance Plus Dance Studio. He is very active with the Ohio Star Ball which takes place in November each year and is often shown on Public Broadcast.

His classes are always fun and informative
